Mushrooms and flowers — Nature-inspired design for Het Nest Festival

From vintage botanical art to a modern look.

Het Nest Festival, nestled in Nijmegen's Goffertpark, is an electronic music festival that blends seamlessly with its natural surroundings. With a diverse lineup of DJs and live acts across multiple stages, the festival showcases genres like techno, house, and other electronic styles.

For the second consecutive year, I was approached together with Hands Agency to craft the visual identity for Het Nest Festival 2023. This years design is inspired on vintage botanical illustrations found in classic flora and fauna books, with the help of AI we generated various flowers and mushrooms in this aesthetic. These elements were then edited and integrated into a new identity for the festival's campaign of 2023.

The botanical-inspired design was applied across the entire campaign. We produced a lineup video, posters, large banners, animations, and online announcements and information. Each stage was given a specific color scheme, allowing to showcase the lineup per stage with artist announcements on social media.

Carrying the visual identity into the festival.

In collaboration with Scoff, a clothing brand from Nijmegen, we integrated the visual style into merchandise. We created shirts, hoodies and festival bags that embodied the festival's aesthetic. Furthermore, we designed a festival map, timetable, drink menus, and information boards, all displayed on-site.

Realizing the design for a big festival like this was a dream come true, and I felt honored to contribute to this event.

In 2024 we build a website for Het Nest.

we also launched a dedicated website for Het Nest Festival, This platform features an artist archive, showcasing those who have performed and are set to perform, complete with biographies and photos. Additionally, it provides all necessary information about the festival.
